Influenced by Jazz & traditional Indian music at an early age, Kam started learning music at school from the age of 12. At the time of his early teens, Pirate radio stations were playing a range of new musical styles. Listening to these pirate stations every day became a neccessity and soon a way of life. At the age of 16, Romay's interest turned from listening to mixing these new sounds, in particular Ragga / Hardcore / Jungle, soon to become 'Drum&Bass'. He started experimenting with breaks & grooves and then progressed to making drum&bass dubplates of his own at a friend’s studio.
At College he started Dj'ing at discos and club events and when he went on to University his passion for music and playing to an audience grew. After Uni he gained exposure and experience within the industry Dj'ing at a variety of venues around London & the South-East, including Ministry of Sound and Bagley’s, plus a 2 year residency at Limelight’s.
Having honed his DJ skills, Romay set about creating his own studio and learning the finer points of engineering. His first project was to mix down tracks for a friend's Rock & Jazz band, followed by material for a number of other artists. Since then, Romay has focussed much of his attention on personal drum&bass projects, the produce of which is now available on several major labels.
“ I like to create and perform music that's inspirational to listen to and great for the dancefloor ”.
