Antony Angell has earned a reputation as one of the hottest US/Garage/Funky House DJs in the North East.

Antony first started DJing 'as a wee lad, faffing around with friends decks and sound systems'. As soon as he was able, he bought a set of decks, practiced and began playing out at parties. Aware of his level of commitment and encouraged by the good feedback he was receiving, Antony's parents gave him full use of their garage... which immediately became his new home. His devotion to music and sound equipment led Antony on to qualify in PA and Studio technology at South Tyneside college, before launching his professional DJ career.

Antony has since worked with a many well known industry professionals, including Grant Nelson, Graeme Park, Kenny Carpenter, Jim ‘Shaft’ Ryan, Farley Jackmaster Funk and Tom Wainwright.

He is currently resident a 'Flynn’s Bar' in Newcastle–Upon–Tyne and also at 'Ttonic' Lounge bar in Sunderland, as well as doing various guest spots around the North–East.

Antony is also very active in the radio scene, supplying guest mixes for Galaxy 1056 in the North – East on the 'Friday Night Sound Bite' with Kareem, and also heading-up an internet radio show called 'Essential House' which goes out on London Live & Direct, Saturday nights from 22.30 – 0.00 GMT. The show features the best in US House and Garage as well as the freshest breaking tunes in clubland (along with anything else that's funky). On the show he has regular guest mixes from the likes of Seamus Haji, Groove Junkies, Glynn Braithwaite, Ron Carroll, Copyright, Reel People and Simon Dunmore (to name just a few) alongside many top-notch local DJs.

Antony describes his musical style as 'US House & Garage & Funky House'. Influences include Defected records, Soulfuric, Groove Junkies, and DJ Spen's sound, as well as 'the brilliant' Full Intention.

When performing, Antony uses many accappellas, special FX and bonus beats in his sets... 'I like to watch and learn from other DJs, both local and high-profile. I believe that when playing live a DJ should never stop learning and trying new things'.

When not DJing, Antony is hard at work in the studio, writing, producing and reediting tracks using Ableton Live and Cool Edit, which he claims are 'complicated but well worth sticking with'. The effort's definitely paying off...
