Fernando Perez is DJ EkSeL, born & raised in Los Angeles
California, and
currently residing in North Hollywood. In 1997 at the young age of 17,
DJ EkSeL
discovered his love for music and pursued his passion of becoming a
professional Disc
Jockey.
Within 5 years and the confidence in his mixing abilities, he decided
to step into
the spotlight & find his target audience. “I have one
philosophy when it comes to dj’ing. If
you play for the woman, the men will follow”, Said EkSeL. DJ
EkseL’s prime target
became woman from ages 18 – 35 which consists of Hip-Hop,
R&b, Top-40, House, 80’s &
90’s all mainstream hits.
After being booked for Weddings, Quinceneras, Holiday Events, and
Private
Events etc… DJ EkSeL decided to take dj’ing to the
next level, to do nightclubs. His first
nightclub appearance was at “Gitana’s” In
Burbank, Ca.
Then later was invited to dj a small venue called “The
Roxy” in Oakland, Ca. In 2003 DJ EkSel got his first
residency at an
afterhour’s nightclub in Hollywood called “The
End-Up”, which opened its doors at 2AM.
This venue opened several doors for EkSeL to have guest spots at big
Hollywood
nightclubs such as “The Pig N’ Whistle”,
“Miyagi’s”, “Red Buddha
Lounge”, “Minx”,
“Joeseph’s Café &
Nightclub”, “Saffire” &
“Gabah”.
In 2004, DJ EkSeL began putting out mix cd’s that found to be
profitable and
managed to stay in demand. “Hot Air/Club Play”
& “Back To The Old School” were the
biggest sellers at retailers such as “Sound Station
Records” & “Street Sound
Records”.
DJ EkSeL is currently the resident & the sound engineer for
“Play Nightclub” In Hollywood.
He has managed the sound system & Dj’ed on various
nights for the past 2 years up to &
including its remodel transitions from “Red Buddha
Lounge” to “Club Play” & now
