In 1992 age
just 16 Stu was taught how to
mix by his friend in his bedroom, mixing Chicago House.
His mixing
talent and enthusiasm grew over the years and at the age of 21 he
played his first live debut at Jacks Bar in Newcastle which went down a
storm playing deep funky sounds that the crowd had not heard before.
Rolling on from his 1st successful debut in 2002 Stu entered the
Pioneer Bedroom Dj competition and despite strong competition and a lot
of talented Dj’s Stu came 1st place.
This won him a slot to
play at Newcastle’s World Headquarters.
This opportunity led
him to playing & enhancing his talent at various
bars’s and clubs around the North East including:
World Headquarters (Newcastle),
Po Na Na (Newcastle),
Jack’s Bar (Newcastle).
Stu’s 1st residency was at Newcastle’s former Bar
55, where he played a variation of Deep Funky house and vocal tunes.
In 2003 Stu met Col at a house party and there friendship grew from
there and so did Col’s enthusiasm and drive to be able to mix
and become a Dj.
Stu taught Col the ropes and how to perfect his
talent.
Over the last 5 years Col & Stu have jelled and come up
with a fresh new sound that is currently circulating around the North
East at a night called Bobstock generated to bring live underground
house music back to the region.
Col’s last 4 years of experience have again been at various
competitions and bars around the North east including:
Revolution (Newcastle)
Mushroom Bar (Newcastle)
Baron and Baroness (Newcastle)
Bar 55 (Newcastle).
It wasn’t until 2007 when Col & Stu formed their name
as BAK2BAK and took their first residency together at a local event
called Blend.
BAK2BAK have now been playing together for the last 2 years and have
solid foundation residencies throughout the North East.
Col and Stu’s enthusiasm to bring back underground house has
been a great success in Newcastle with popular house nights and crowd
pleasing tracks keeping the crowd bouncing and wanting more.
As gradual progression BAK2BAK have now started to produce their own
music with Slipadisc records and hope to release plenty of music in the
near future.
They also frequently kick out their funky tunes on Slipadiscradio on
the Internet’s Shout cast.
BAK2BAK are versatile in their genres and play to please any crowd.
